"I like trees because they seem more resigned to the way they have to live than other things do." - Willa Cather, 1913
I thought I would share a quote, a note, and a photo that I got from my mom - to show appreciation not just for my mother Earth, but also for my earthly mother. Above is a quote from her favorite author, sent in honor of Earth day.
As for the photo? "Tommy got this wonderful cypress tree from an Earth Day celebration at the Audubon Zoo when he was an little, blonde curly-haired 8 yr old. He came home with a tiny seedling wrapped in wet newspaper & said, "Let's plant it". So we did. It has survived Steve Wiget, Katrina, Gustav & just living with us, in general. Tommy is coming home this weekend & I want to take a picture of him & his family under it's beautiful green furry limbs. Maybe a new tradition for Earth Day!" -Mom
Cheers to traditions new and old. :)
