mystery flights

There is a little wine bar behind the Apple store called Vino Locale. They serve local bay area wines, and have a lovely outdoor patio. I had gone there several times, but a few weeks ago I went on a Thursday with a couple of friends. I was surprised to learn that Thursday is mystery flight night. For $15 you get four 2oz tastes of unknown wines and a mystery snack (last time it was goat cheese and bread). If you can guess the varietals of the four glasses correctly, you get the whole thing for free! It was so fun - way more fun than I thought it would be. I worked on my guesses with a couple friends, but in the end we only got one right! Turns out I have no idea what different varietals are supposed to taste like - although I look forward to trying to learn!
